On April 25, the 2024 (3rd) CCUS Technology Exchange Conference was successfully held in Zibo. The conference brought together renowned experts, scholars, and leading enterprise representatives from the national CCUS field. They held in-depth discussions and exchanges on the development and industrialization of CCUS technology. Yantai Longgang Pump Industry Co., Ltd. was the exclusive title sponsor of this grand event.
Given the current severe global climate change situation, “peak carbon dioxide emissions and carbon neutrality” has become China’s core strategy for green development. CCUS technology, as an effective means of carbon reduction, is receiving increasing attention. According to statistics, the number of CCUS demonstration projects currently in operation or under construction in China has reached 40. This fully demonstrates China’s proactive attitude and solid steps in addressing climate change. However, CCUS technology still faces a series of technical, economic, and safety challenges. How to build a low-cost, low-energy-consumption, safe, and reliable CCUS system and industrial cluster became a hot topic among the attending experts and entrepreneurs.
As the exclusive title sponsor of the conference, Yantai Longgang Pump Industry Co., Ltd. showcased its technical expertise in the field of pumps for CCUS applications. In his opening speech, Mr. Chen Yun, Assistant General Manager of the company, profoundly elaborated on the significance of carbon dioxide capture, storage, and utilization in reducing carbon dioxide emissions and mitigating global warming. He also emphasized the critical role of strengthening CCUS technology R&D, cooperation, and exchange in promoting industry development.
During the subsequent PPT presentation and exchange session, Mr. Chen provided a detailed introduction to the carbon dioxide pipeline booster pump. This pump was jointly developed by Longgang Pump and Sinopec Shengli Oilfield for the “Qilu Petrochemical – Shengli Oilfield Million-Ton CCUS Project”. The pump has been operating safely and stably at the project site for over 9 months. All performance indicators, including flow, head, vibration, and temperature rise, have met the technical requirements. This marks the first time China has achieved long-distance dense-phase carbon dioxide transportation.
The holding of this conference not only provided a valuable platform for cooperation and exchange among project owners, design institutes, service providers, and academic experts, but also injected new vitality into the R&D and application of CCUS technology. Through this conference, participants gained a clearer understanding of the development trends and application prospects of CCUS technology. They also look forward to deep cooperation in more fields in the future, working together to contribute to addressing global climate change!
